MacVoices
The talk of the Apple community

In the Chipolo booth at CES in Las Vegas, Chief Marketing Officer Nika Kramzar talks about both their latest tracking devices that are targeted at Android users, as well as the story behind their “Perfectly Imperfect” trackers, how they cut down on scrapping rejected cases while benefiting some favorite charities. (The most clever and innovative marketing campaign that we saw at this year’s show.)

In Eureka Park at CES in Las Vegas, we caught up with the makers of the GoDonut, who introduced the new GatorGrip, a simple but very useful and effective iPad or iPhone stand. David Kelly talks about how it is made, how it orients for portrait or landscape modes, and why the material it is made of holds up so well. We also revisit the GoDonut and why it is another type of iPad or iPhone stand that can be used in a different way from the GatorGrip.

Outside at CES in Las Vegas we had a chilly conversation with Lisa Mathis, Head of Marketing, North America for SOUNDBOKS. Representing themselves as the best "speaker brand you haven’t heard of yet”, Lisa explained their origins at a music festival and how they are now coming to the U.S. Unlike some larger concert speakers ( 126 dB maximum output), these are Bluetooth and can be connected together wirelessly, and run off swappable batteries, so placement and movement is simplified. The grills can also be customized for you, your company, or your brand. Crank it up!

At Showstoppers at CES in Las Vegas, Wacom introduced the new Wacom Bridge, a solution for artists who work remotely or away from their desks. With Wacom Bridge, they don’t need to lug heavy laptops or travel with the files. Arvind Arumbakkam, Technology & Industry Partnerships, talks about how their system eliminates the lag typical from the more mainstream remote work apps. Then, artist Sarajean Chung gives us a demo in the most challenging of environments: a CES exhibit hall.

In Las Vegas at Showstoppers at CES, we saw and heard a demo of the technology behind the Miari speaker from SoundFun that was more than surprising. Kai Kitayama talked us through the demo that provided a wider and longer field of sound than you would expect, and how it can enhance the dialog from your TV. (Host’s Note: Audio demos are always difficult in a conference environment, which made this one that much more impressive. Please understand that the in-person experience was truly impressive and worth exploring.)
